Tobias Spanke

Tobias Spanke, MSc, earned his B.Sc. Degree at the Rheinischen-Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität Bonn. He presented his Bachelor thesis “Indices for biological diversity based on acoustic data for german and african nature reserves” in 2013. During his M.Sc. Degree, he studied under the programme Organismic- Evolutionary- and Paleobiology and in 2016 defended a Master thesis “Computational Bioacoustics: Audio Libraries of the Western Rock Nuthatch for Semi-Automated Sound Classification”. In 2018, he was enrolled as a PhD student at the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig (ZFMK) "AG-Ricefish". He worked on a number of research projects, among which “MorphDBase-Project: Integration of morphologic CT-Data into the MorphDBase databank”, “GFBio Project: Build-up of a central database for scientific datasets in Germany”, etc. His current research interest is in the morphology of ricefish species (Adranichthydae) located in Indonesia.

In year 2016, Tobias Spanke spent 4 weeks at TU-Varna and carried out research activities in the area of Computational Bioacoustics under the supervision of Prof. Todor Ganchev.

Cristian Pérez-Granados

Cristian Pérez-Granados, PhD, earned his B.S. in Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2009, Madrid, Spain), a Masters in Conservation Biology from the Universidad Complutense (2010, Madrid, Spain) and a Ph.D in Conservation and Restoration of Ecosystems at the Alicante University (2016). He was awarded with the Extraordinary Doctorade Award (December of 2019). He worked as a researcher of the Autonomous University of Madrid within the project “Conservation of the Dupont’s lark Chersophilus duponti and its habitat in Soria (Spain)” (LIFE Ricotí). After a PhD focused on Dupont’s lark ecology and conservation (in Alicante University, Spain), he was hired for the LIFE Ricotí project where he was responsible for acoustic monitoring. Currently, he works as a post-doctoral researcher in the National Institute for Science and Technology in Wetlands (Federal University of Mato Grosso), as a member of the Computational Bioacoustics Research Unit (CO.BRA). His research interests are in the area of bioacoustics, assessing the function of bird dawn choruses, effect of habitat fragmentation on birdsong, describing a protocol for bird monitoring by using automated recorders, or describing the diel and seasonal patterns of vocal activity of different birds and anuran species. He actively participates in the development of new techniques for remote wildlife monitoring to provide solutions to conservation biology problems and improve the knowledge on wildlife distribution patterns.

In year 2019, Dr. Cristian Pérez-Granados spent 6 weeks at TU-Varna and carried out research activities in the area of Computational Bioacoustics under the supervision of Prof. Todor Ganchev.
